Volunteers
Volunteering for YI gives young people aged 15-18 the opportunity to develop skills of leadership in various different projects that we run.
For example, volunteers help with our after schools programmes and can take lead in running engaging and fun activities. They can take charge of games, lead sessions on developing life skills and build relationships with young people participating in these clubs.
In 2022/23, YI ran a volunteer training day for young people willing to volunteer in projects throughout the year. This training day involved going through our volunteer handbook, goals for volunteering throughout the year and what you would change to help the needs of young people in your local community. With this group we ran our YI Connect programme on Monday nights. This youth club which was attended mostly by volunteers allowed the young people to attend sessions that would touch on faith and see how our volunteers are developing in our programs.
